We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Deputy Officer in Charge, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £17.85 - £23.56 per hourSummary:We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and experienced Deputy Officer in Charge to join our new Childrens Home in Cardiff, supporting some of our most vulnerable children and young people. This short-term residential service (up to 12 weeks) aims to assess needs in depth and secure the most suitable long-term placements.The Deputy Manager will work alongside the Registered Manager to lead and inspire the staff team, ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and the wellbeing of the children and young people in our care.Responsibilities:
  • Ensure young people receive a sensitive, inclusive service that meets their social, cultural, medical, psychological, educational, and physical needs.
  • Empower young people to have a voice in decisions about their lives, encouraging independence and life skills.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, ensuring consultation and participation in care planning.
  • Promote integration with the community, using local facilities and developing community links.
  • Support the Manager in maintaining the professional competence and development of the staff team.
Qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent for Social Care Wales registration.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a senior role within a residential childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of child development and the needs of young people.
  • Knowledge of budget monitoring and management systems.
  • Experience using a Behaviour Support model of care.
  • Ability to undertake assessments, write detailed reports, and chair meetings.
  • Experience in staff supervision and performance management.
