Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and families, you will help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.About the School: This is a welcoming and well-resourced specialist setting for secondary-aged pupils who follow a primary-style curriculum. The school supports students with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, typically around 12 to 13 pupils, allowing for more tailored and supportive teaching.
It’s a bit like teaching primary children in secondary-sized bodies—full of energy, personality and potential.What You’ll Be Doing as SEND Teaching Assistant (SEND TA)
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to ensure consistent support.
- Encourage independence and confidence in students’ learning.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.
- Foster a classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and included.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.
- Support students’ emotional and behavioural needs with empathy and patience.
- Experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs.
- Additional training in areas such as autism, speech and language, or behaviour management is desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
