Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.About the role:Our QA team is growing and we’re looking for a Lead Engineer to help multiple squads’ with quality output and integrate quality practices. This role will be a mix of strategy and individual contribution where you will build the Quality team at Motorway, helping us reach the next level of engineering and software quality.Our tech stack: We operate a Javascript monostack, using the latest JS features heavily. We use PostgreSQL with the Sequelize ORM and Redis databases. We are currently hosted on AWS.Responsibilities:
  • Owning of the QA strategy & community for Motorway.
  • Ensuring implementation of the strategy - working closely with the QA Engineers & Tech Leads to ensure quality is embedded in each team.
  • Create an QA education program to develop our QA Engineers and the wider engineering team.
  • Collaborating with Engineering leaders on overall Engineering initiatives to ensure that QA is considered as a first class citizen.
  • Splitting time between people management, strategy and individual contribution.
  • Supporting the Quality team with their day-to-day where needed.
  • Line management of multiple Quality Engineers - mentoring and coaching them to further their careers within tech.
  • Collaborating with developers to have them contribute to Quality/testing.
  • Demonstrating to squads and stakeholders the benefits of testing.
Requirements
  • You are an experienced QA Engineer ready to help build the Quality discipline at Motorway.
  • You believe that quality is everyone’s responsibility – you are a domain expert and want to share that knowledge with all engineers.

  • You are decisive and use good judgement to focus your attention on the most impactful solutions
Bonus points:
  • Experience of building and testing software in an agile continuous integration and deployment environment.
  • Experience in functional/non-functional testing, test architecture, performance testing.
  • Experience creating and implementing test automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of modern development practices, such as CI/CD and cloud based technology.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript and/or Typescript.
