It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.About the Role:As an Animal Care Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to support lessons in animal care, welfare, and handling. The role involves creating engaging learning experiences in both classroom and outdoor environments, assisting with the day-to-day care of animals, and ensuring students gain valuable practical skills. A valid driving licence and willingness to drive are highly desirable for this role.Your Responsibilities as an Animal Care Teaching Assistant:
- Support teaching and learning in animal care lessons.
- Assist in the supervision, care, and handling of animals used in the curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students.
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of both students and animals.
- Help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
- Assist students in developing confidence and independence in animal care practices.
- CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent (desirable but not mandatory).
- Qualifications in Animal Care or relevant experience working with animals.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive (essential).
- Previous experience supporting children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
