A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Cost Systems Engineer to join a leading infrastructure programme. This role sits within the central Project Controls function, responsible for managing and optimising delivery performance through advanced systems and reporting.You’ll take ownership of EcoSys configuration and reporting, ensuring the system is effectively utilised across both client and supply chain scopes to support project success.Role PurposeThis role will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the EcoSys cost management system and associated reporting outputs. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring cost data is accurate, timely, and aligned with project scope and scheduling structures.You will also play a key role in system assurance activities, ensuring high-quality data integration and reporting without reliance on functional leads, while also coordinating user support and simplified training where needed.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure, maintain, and enhance EcoSys to support effective project cost control.Manage and align Work and Cost Breakdown Structures (WBS & CBS), including integration with P6.Ensure alignment of cost data with scheduled activities and project scope.Implement digital cost solutions that create value across the project lifecycle.Generate and maintain periodic cost reports and dashboards.Perform cost studies using historical data, benchmarking, and variance analysis.Ensure consistency and accuracy across reports and data sets.Provide user support and training for EcoSys users across the project team.Support the development and assurance of cost monitoring and control processes.Essential Skills & ExperienceSignificant experience working with EcoSys in a major infrastructure project environment.In-depth understanding of Cost and Change Management principles and processes.Strong knowledge of project controls functions: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change, and risk.Degree or equivalent in Business Analysis, Finance, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities, including Microsoft Excel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to simplify technical details.Technical understanding of database systems, system integration, cloud platforms, and system admin tasks.Experience in producing high-quality reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.DesirableExperience with additional systems such as Prism (Contruent), Cobra, Unifier, or Smartsheets.Background in server-side admin, including disk usage, system security, and performance tuning.Experience working across departments such as Finance, IT, and Data Management.Familiarity with Power BI or similar analytics/reporting tools.Understanding of various contract types including NEC and FIDIC.Experience in highly regulated environments (e.g. Nuclear, Defence, Energy).What’s on OfferLong-term contract until December 2025 with likely extension.Work on a high-profile infrastructure programme of national significance.Based in London with hybrid working, there will be occasional travel to the Suffolk site.Be part of a high-performing, collaborative Project Controls team.Opportunity to lead on system innovation and performance improvement.
