Principal Product Safety Engineer – Safety & EnvironmentalBarrow-in-Furness, Cumbria (Frimley or Filton are alternative locations) hybrid working circa 2 days on site per fortnight – 12 month duration – Pay rate £55.31 p/h PAYE basic (£63.35 p/h including holiday pay) or £74.68 p/h UmbrellaWe are looking for a Safety Engineer to work at Principal Engineer level on Product Safety and Environmental Engineering tasks for our defence client on Submarine systems. You will be working as part of an Integrated Development Team, established to develop and deliver submarine systems / capability.Typical Responsibilities:
  • Focusing on ensuring that Product Safety tasking and activities are completed across multiple systems in support of project milestones through all stages of Engineering Life Cycle Management.
  • Supporting Hazard Identification and Analysis studies.
  • Assisting with or generating safety reports.
  • Ensuring the Integrated Development Team operates within the project Safety Management System.
  • Liaising with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.
Requirements:
  • Practical ability as a Product Safety Engineer in the maritime defence sector is preferable, although experience in other sectors will be considered.
  • An understanding of 'Safety and Systems Engineering' and of the 'Engineering Life Cycle Management'
  • Proven ability working and delivering Safety Engineering tasks as part of team, but also capable of working and delivering tasks unsupervised.
  • The ability to be agile in working practices and customer expectations.
  • Self-motivated, with good verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Information:The successful candidate will need to gain a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level before starting. A new SC application will be sponsored if required.
