The St Jamess Clinical Research Team is recruiting!The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities and the early phase research portfolio is looking for a Band 6 Research Nurse. It is a full time post (1.0 WTE), with a permanent contract. This post will be based at the St Jamess University Hospital (SJUH) Clinical Research Facility.The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the Early Phase Research Portfolio. The main tasks are: administering investigational medicinal products such as Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and Advanced Therapies (ATMPS), staff management and working collaboratively with the wider research teams to support their early phase studies.In addition, the post holder would be responsible for ensuring high standards of clinical care planning, safety, and patient satisfaction in line with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation.If you are interested in the post, we would like to encourage you to contact the recruiting manager for an informal discussion.Expected Shortlisting Date24/09/2025Planned Interview Date01/10/2025Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be SACT competent, have the ability to demonstrate managerial skills, and be adaptable to the evolving and expanding nature of our service, maintaining a positive and professional approach.In this role, you will support the wider research teams to ensure the safe and effective delivery of early phase clinical trials across various specialties. Additionally, you will help facilitate the delivery of the SJUH Clinical Research Facilitys own oncology portfolio. You will also be required to complete additional training, including Immediate Life Support (ILS), as well as research-specific courses such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) the handling of dangerous goods (IATA training).The post holder will be responsible for effectively line-managing colleagues, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development. Additionally, they will assist with conducting unit audits to ensure compliance and quality standards. The role also involves taking on the responsibility of nurse in charge when required, as well as organising and preparing agendas for staff meetings to facilitate clear communication and team collaboration.The post holder will also be required to work alongside industry partners, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required.About usResearch is at the heart of our Trust.
