Specialist SLD Teacher - LichfieldAre you an experienced and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for supporting children with specific learning difficulties? Academics, a trusted education recruitment agency, is working alongside a fantastic specialist school in Lichfield to find a talented SLD Teacher who can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with complex needs.The Opportunity:This exciting role involves teaching Key Stage 2 pupils who have a variety of specific learning difficulties (SLD), alongside additional needs such as sensory impairments, communication barriers, and physical challenges. The successful candidate will plan and deliver a dynamic and sensory-led curriculum that is tailored to meet each student's individual learning journey.What you'll be doing:
  • Deliver engaging, creative lessons that support academic, emotional, and developmental progress
  • Design personalised learning plans based on each pupil's needs and EHCP targets
  • Collaborate closely with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure a holistic approach
  • Monitor and record student development and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
  • Foster a calm, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
  • Engage in professional development to continually enhance your practice
What we're looking for:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience working with children with SLD or PMLD (within schools or specialist settings)
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills
  • A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach to teaching
  • Confidence in supporting students with sensory processing needs, physical disabilities, or communication difficulties
