Contractual hours: 37Package:Fixed termJob Description:Are you an experienced commissioner looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Commissioner: Joint Commissioning to support the commissioning of services for children and young people with complex needs.Working in partnership with health colleagues, you will work to develop and maintain effective joint commissioning arrangements, ensuring that children and young people with complex needs receive the right care and support when they need it.Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Commissioner, you will:
  • Develop and maintain effective joint commissioning arrangements with health
  • Develop an integrated approach with health for Continued Health Care and Section 117 Provision
  • Work to embed learning from West Berkshire's Delivering Better Value in SEND Programm
  • Contribute to the development of commissioning strategies and plans
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of commissioned services, ensuring that appropriate improvement plans are in place.
  • Analyse data and feedback to inform commissioning decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on commissioning issues to senior managers and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Significant experience of commissioning in SEND or Children's Services (in a local authority or health setting).
  • Strong knowledge of commissioning principles, processes and best practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of individuals and organisations.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to use evidence to drive commissioning decisions.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
