This is a new post and offers an exciting opportunity to join the innovative POPS team (Perioperative Older People Service). The team sits jointly with the Urology and General Surgery Teams.Taking part in the on-call rota is optional for the post holder.Main duties of the jobThe POPS team provide preoperative assessment and optimisation for high-risk patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery and follow the patient through the surgical admission coordinating and delivering medical care, rehabilitation and discharge planning. It is a multidisciplinary team comprising consultants, clinical nurse specialists and therapists. The team will be fully embedded at ESHT, with established pathways of care, close collaboration with frailty, anaesthetic and surgical colleagues.Please check the JD for main duties of the job.About usWe provide safe, compassionate and high quality care to half a million people living or visiting East Sussex.   • Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
  • Entry onto the Specialist Registrar for GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT/CCST or equivalent
  • On specialist register for GIM and geriatric medicine
  • Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e., NRCP/MRCS or equivalent

  • MD or equivalent higher degree of evidence of relevant research

  • Comprehensive clinical experience in general medicine and geriatric medicine
