
SEMH / SEN Tutor – South Birmingham

- Deliver engaging one-to-one & small-group sessions in Math, English, Science or other core subjects
- Create adaptive, hands-on lesson plans linking real-world examples with therapeutic approaches
- Use quick assessments to monitor progress and give constructive feedback
- Employ behaviour-management and SEMH strategies to build resilience and self-esteem
- Keep accurate records of attendance, progress notes and session reflections
- Liaise with parents, carers, teachers and local authorities on targets and achievements
- Maintain safeguarding, health & safety and GDPR standards at all times
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching SEN/SEMH students in one-to-one, PRU, mentoring or alternative provision settings
- Strong knowledge of Autism, ADHD and emotional-regulation strategies
- Skilled in using therapeutic techniques (counselling, mentoring, art therapy, mindfulness and youth work approaches) to foster trust and engagement
- Excellent verbal and written communication—making complex ideas accessible and enjoyable
- Patient, resilient and adaptable with outstanding behaviour-management skills
- Valid Enhanced DBS (on the update service, or willing to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car (preferred)
