- Coordinate the provision for students with SEND, ensuring that their needs are accurately assessed and met in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on best practices for inclusive teaching and differentiation.
- Maintain accurate records of students with SEND, including progress, interventions, and outcomes.
- Act as a point of contact for parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and offering advice and support.
- Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and local authorities, to access additional support and resources.
- Stay abreast of developments in SEND legislation and best practices, ensuring that the school remains compliant and proactive in meeting the needs of all students.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs.
- A DBS on the update service.
- Previous experience working as a SENCO or in a similar role within a school setting.
- In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice, and best practices for supporting students with a range of SEND requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
