Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.PURPOSE OF THE ROLENewsbeat is an industry-leading multi-platform team, producing creative, original and impactful journalism for 15-24 year olds - across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, BBC News Online and Social.
We are looking for two journalists with a range of radio writing, reading and social media skills.You will work as part of a team of journalists driving editorial ambitions and innovation - ensuring we are adapting to and serving the changing needs of our diverse and underserved audiences. In these roles, you will work as part of a 7-day rota including earlies, lates, and weekends.WHY JOIN THE TEAMAs part of a young, dynamic and creative newsroom, you will be at the forefront of the BBC's mission to engage 15-24 year olds with impartial, trusted and relevant journalism.
In this role, you will have the chance to shape Newsbeat's editorial offer - taking our reporting to new audiences in new ways, making impact across the BBC and beyond.
You'll be expected to know what matters to young, diverse audiences and come up with original ways to tell those stories.
We are looking for journalists who can bring in their own stories and present them to listeners and readers in a creative way.
You'll make stand-out radio for Newsbeat's 15-minute programmes as well as reading and writing bulletins and working on online content.
Our journalists report around the UK and interview case studies, experts and contributors on a daily basis.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- You will be responsible for writing, reporting on and reading content - including stories and video for the BBC News website and Social platforms - underpinned by sound editorial judgement, and an excellent understanding of young and diverse audiences.
- You will use analytics and data to drive our journalism.
- You will be full of boundary-pushing ideas for stories and guests.
- You will be passionate about engaging 15-24s with national and global news.
- Writing bulletins, packages, voice pieces with sound editorial judgement and understanding of media law.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced national newsroom.
- Comprehensive understanding of modern digital trends, formats, platforms and analytics.
- Excellent knowledge of national and global news and current affairs, including politics, sport and entertainment.
- Audio production/editing.
- Video production/editing.
- Social media content production.
- Experience of multi-platform reporting, including audio and video.
