- Provide specialized support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
- Plan, deliver, and assess learning activities for individuals and small groups under the guidance of teaching staff
- Develop and implement strategies to support students' social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans
- Assist in the management of challenging behavior, using appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students
- Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification
- Extensive experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs
- In-depth understanding of SEND, particularly in relation to SEMH
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong behavior management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficiency in using technology to support learning
- Flexibility and adaptability in approach to supporting diverse learner needs
- Additional qualifications in SEMH or related fields
- Experience in delivering interventions such as ELSA, Thrive, or similar
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection
- First aid qualification
- Implementing specific interventions and strategies to support emotional regulation
- Providing a safe and nurturing environment for students to express their feelings
- Offering guidance and support during challenging situations
- Helping students develop coping mechanisms and resilience
- Supporting the development of social skills and positive relationships
