This role relates to a Senior Practitioner Position within the Permanent Resources Team. With the functions of this team being:
  • Supporting Permanent and Continuing Carers
  • Recruitment and Assessment of Adopters
  • Re-assessment of Foster Carer's to become permanent carers
  • Post Adoption Support and Counselling
The Senior Practitioner will hold specific strategic responsibility for:
  • Recruitment, Assessment and Training of Adopters and Permanent Carers
  • Quality Assurance and Self Inspection against Key Quality Indicators
  • Carer Support
The Permanent Resources Team structure has been created to offer a service that improves outcomes for children, young people and their families. The core components of this role are outlined below:
  • Recruitment, and assessment of adopters and re-assessment of permanent foster carers
  • Preparation Groups
  • Support Groups
  • Supervision of foster carers, continuing carers and adopters
  • Report Writing
  • Chairing Permanence and Linking Meetings
  • Enhanced/additional support at times of crisis
  • Life story work
  • Theraplay
  • Family Time Facilitation
  • Training
  • Post Adoption Support
  • Post Box Contact
  • Attendance at LAC reviews, LAC CGMs, education and therapeutic meetings
You will be required to undertake professional supervision of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants supporting their professional development and ensuring Council policy and procedures are followed; we want to create a team of autonomous, compassionate workers with a clear vision of keeping children at the centre.You will be required to work within service processes and procedures to assess and undertake appropriate and relevant planning for children and their caregivers to ensure positive outcomes are completed within timescales. We want to be firmly embedded within The Promise where all our children and young people grow up healthy and safe.You should have experience in being able to successfully negotiate and liaise with partner agencies to plan interventions and supports for children and their families.A link to the role profile is included at the bottom of the advert. You will find out more about the job and the type of person we are looking for.The PersonA Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.You will have one of the following:
  • An accredited post-qualifying award (e.g. Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Mental Health Officer Accreditation, Practice Teacher Award, etc.) or a commitment to work towards achieving this within 2 years of appointment.
  • You should have considerable experience in a relevant setting.
  • You must have the ability to travel throughout Fife.
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols and experience of joint working to achieve common goals.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed.
