School Support Worker – SEN schoolJob Title-Support workers our schools need you !!Job descriptionMilk Education are seeking to appoint dedicated and enthusiastic Support Workers to work with pupils who have SEND, complex learning and physical difficulties on a short and long-term basis within specialist SEND primary schools across LiverpoolThe specialist schools we work with cater to pupils with ASD, complex needs, and PMLD. Previous experience working with children or young people with learning difficulties within the education sector or within the Health and Social Care sector would be beneficial, however, the most important attribute is the willingness to get involved and be proactive.The successful candidate will be expected to undertake all activities as required during their time at the school and be able to work as part of a team as well as being able to use initiative.If successful, you will work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff to support access to learning and provide 1:1 support. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the normal teaching area, which may include swimming or sporting activities for the disabled, etc.What you need to apply:
  • Previous experience working with children, or young adults, with ASD or complex needs (Voluntary welcome)
  • Confidence dealing with pupils with different abilities and SEND requirements
  • A good knowledge of the National Curriculum or be confident in supporting with particular subjects is desirable
  • Good interpersonal and communicational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to complete this)
  • Enthusiastic attitude towards inspiring children
We are looking for Support Assistants who are:
  • Passionate about enabling the child to fulfil their potential
  • Able to contribute to, and work as part of a team
  • Creative in approach to children’s learning
  • Confident in implementing support techniques, such as PEC’s & Makaton – Full trainign will be given
  • Enthusiastic towards inspiring children
  • Dedicated and caring
  • Able to demonstrate high expectations which are communicated to the child
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to raise self-esteem
  • Compassionate and positive with a flexible approach when supporting the child
Extra 1:1 support may includeHandwriting /fine motor/keyboard skills training * Familiarity with assistive technology (wheelchair)
  • Access to teaching assistant support
  • A willingness to support with personal care, although this may not be required
