- Lead injection moulding expertise from RFQ stage, overseeing trial and process development activities.
- Collaborate with Tooling Engineers on new tool designs, ensuring mould processing requirements are incorporated.
- Provide practical guidance in reviewing Moldflow simulation results for new tool manufacture.
- Conduct injection moulding optimization studies using scientific moulding techniques to meet cost and quality targets.
- Attend offsite tool trials with accountability for setting and tracking trial objectives.
- Train toolmakers in Mould Process Workbook expectations and manage incoming toolmaker documentation.
- Lead process transfer from toolmaker trials into plants, working closely with manufacturing teams.
- Create and maintain detailed process development documentation to company standards.
- Ensure successful integration with associated in-line processes, assembly equipment, and End of Arm Tooling.
- Run Design of Experiments to resolve complex moulding challenges, drive collaborative solutions based on accurate data analysis.
- Provide expert injection moulding advice during the development of new products or engineering changes.
- Liaise with different departments, customers, suppliers, and service providers as required.
- Own and complete moulding-related tasks within the NPI Process.
- Undertake special projects as required by the Group Tooling Manager or Engineering Director.
- Minimum of 5+ years in a technical injection moulding environment.
- Proven experience in new injection mould tool development, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis.
- Experience with highly technical and cosmetic automotive components.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to self-manage and work well in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the UK, EU, and Asia during certain project phases.
- Working knowledge of commodity and engineering polymers.
- Previous experience in high-volume manufacturing with assembly, joining, and painting processes.
- RJG or equivalent professional moulding accreditation is desirable.
- Experience in scientific moulding and Design of Experiments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of large machines and mould tools (up to 2700T / >30T tool weight) is preferred.
- Robot programming experience would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of measurement methods, quality tools, and basic statistical concepts.
