The Manufacturing process is complex using high-value capital equipment and it involves a mix of mechanical, electrical and process engineering technologies. The site manufactures a variety of ‘Filtering Facepiece Respirators’ and ‘Reusable Respirators’ as part of 3M’s Personal Safety Division.The site has a high emphasis placed upon equipment availability and adherence to world class standards of operation and maintenance.The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a Manufacturing Technology Engineer at our 3M Aycliffe Plant in County Durham, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Initiating, leading and coordinating projects in your assigned manufacturing area aimed at productivity improvement, quality improvement, waste reduction, cost reduction, safety improvement and manufacturing strategy.
  • Provide day to day technical support for your assigned area, working closely with a cross functional team.
  • Responsible for generating and maintaining product and process documentation, to comply with plant registered standards.
  • Taking ownership for an assigned manufacturing process with regard to process variation, quality, waste and unit cost.
  • Gather and analyse production data to ensure area targets are met and drive improvements.
Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
  • Degree level in an Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing continuous improvement methodologies and tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPM
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and software
  • Sound numerical analysis skills
  • Experience of leading process improvement projects
  • Experience of problem solving for manufacturing issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization and to facilitate cross-functional groups for problem solving activities
  • Highly motivated with the drive & energy to lead and influence change
  • Good team player able to work well with & influence others
