- Assist the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective quality management system for structural steel products.
- Conduct thorough inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with British standards BS EN 1090 and NSSS.
- Thorough Non-Conformance Management
- Review and investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs) to identify root causes of quality issues.
- Initiate and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address non-conformances and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of NCRs and CAPAs for internal and external audits.
- Analyse non-conformance data to identify trends and potential systemic issues.
- Proactively recommend process improvements to reduce non-conformance rates.
- Collaborate with the Production team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance product quality and efficiency.
- Conduct internal quality audits and participate in external audits by notified bodies.
- Stay up to date on changes to relevant British standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality management system through the application of Six Sigma methodologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production and other departments on quality matters.
- Engineering background or a related field, preferably with a focus on Quality Management.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality control role within the structural steel industry.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with British standards BS EN 1090, BS EN 3834 and NSSS.
- Strong knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and experience in applying them to improve quality processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and quality management software.
- It is required that the Candidate will hold a qualification / experienced in the following:
- Technical or Quality qualification at HNC level.
- Welding and fabrication of structural steelwork (RWC) Qualification.
- Welding inspection (NDT) Qualification.
- Implementation and maintaining welding management systems in accordance with BS EN 3834
- Lead auditing (BS EN ISO 9001) Qualification.
- Paint applications and inspection, minimum Level 1 Qualification.
