We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quality Manager to join our dynamic team in Severfield (SNI) Enniskillen.In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality of our structural steel products, adhering to strict British / European / International standards, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.You will work closely with the Quality Manager, Production team, Projects and other departments to maintain efficient quality control procedures and drive excellence throughout the manufacturing process.You will be liaising with Client Representatives, review Client Specifications to ensure that requirements are met both in products and related documentation.Take responsibility for external audits both at subcontractors and external suppliers.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective quality management system for structural steel products.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with British standards BS EN 1090 and NSSS.
  • Thorough Non-Conformance Management
  • Review and investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs) to identify root causes of quality issues.
  • Initiate and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address non-conformances and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of NCRs and CAPAs for internal and external audits.
  • Analyse non-conformance data to identify trends and potential systemic issues.
  • Proactively recommend process improvements to reduce non-conformance rates.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and participate in external audits by notified bodies.
  • Stay up to date on changes to relevant British standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality management system through the application of Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production and other departments on quality matters.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Engineering background or a related field, preferably with a focus on Quality Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality control role within the structural steel industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with British standards BS EN 1090, BS EN 3834 and NSSS.
  • Strong knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and experience in applying them to improve quality processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and quality management software.
  • It is required that the Candidate will hold a qualification / experienced in the following:
  • Technical or Quality qualification at HNC level.
  • Welding and fabrication of structural steelwork (RWC) Qualification.
  • Welding inspection (NDT) Qualification.
  • Implementation and maintaining welding management systems in accordance with BS EN 3834
  • Lead auditing (BS EN ISO 9001) Qualification.
  • Paint applications and inspection, minimum Level 1 Qualification.
