We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated team player with excellent communication skills to provide clinical treatment in accordance with a Band A job description and Welsh Government (WG) policy.Main duties of the jobTo provide a range of dental treatment for priority groups and patients referred to the CDS according to Health Board/Directorate policy.A Full Job Description and Person Specification can be found within the additional documents section.About usNorth Wales Community Dental Services is a large service employing over 200 staff and is committed to continuing education.Most clinical staff are trained in Inhalation Sedation, a service offered by dentists and therapists at most of our sites. IV sedation services are also available and the Community Dental Service operates general anaesthetic services at the three District General Hospitals. We are also supported by a visiting Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry from Alder Hey Hospital.We currently host two DCT(1)s per annum and have a Speciality Trainee post in Special Care Dentistry. All final year dental students from Cardiff Dental School attend the Outreach Student Training Scheme operating at Wrexham Dental Centre.Enhanced services include an Intermediate Tier Dentoalveolar Surgery Service and the provision of Special Care Dentistry support to the Head and Neck Cancer MDT. Direct Access and Inhalation Sedation training for Therapists is provided and we are committed to expanding our skill mix models. A number of preventative oral health promotion programmes operate.Benefits

Qualifications
Essential
  • Full Registration with the GDC
  • Bachelor in Dental Surgery or equivalent
  • Proven maintenance of postgraduate continuing professional development
  • Certificate for Safeguarding (Child and Adult)
  • ILS and PLS Certification
Desirable
  • Post-graduate qualification, demonstrating an appropriate clinical skill
  • Membership of a professional organisation/learned society relating to the clinical skill
  • UK-accredited Vocational Training or equivalency
Experience
Essential
  • Recent NHS experience in CDS/Salaried Service and/or GDS experience
  • All aspects of general dentistry
  • Provision of care to patients of all ages
Desirable
  • Other dental disciplines
  • Domiciliary and/or dental mobile environments
  • Assessing and treating vulnerable patients with special clinical needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • Development of Dental Care Professionals
  • EDS or Safety Net provision
  • Experience in Inhalation Sedation
  • Experience providing care under General Anaesthetic
  • Experience of other forms of sedation or anxiety control
  • Assessment of patients for treatment under GA
