- Implement and monitor food safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of food preparation areas, storage facilities, and equipment to identify any non-compliance issues.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on food safety practises, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
- Investigate and respond to food safety complaints, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in food safety legislation and industry best practises, and communicate relevant updates to the organisation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement food safety improvement initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Monitor and analyse food safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to food safety inspections, incidents, and compliance.
- Coordinate with external regulatory authorities and participate in inspections and audits.
- A minimum of a Level 4 Food Safety qualification, such as the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Advanced Food Safety certificate.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of food safety regulations, including HACCP principles.
- Experience in conducting food safety inspections and audits.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and assess potential risks.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software for record-keeping and reporting.
- Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and industry standards.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and their practical application.
- Familiarity with food safety management systems and their implementation.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop control measures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Additional certifications in food safety, such as the Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) lead auditor qualification.
- Experience in managing food safety incidents and recalls.
- Knowledge of allergen management and food labelling regulations.
