- Utilise CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) to create detailed schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels based on project requirements and industry standards.
- Evaluate and select appropriate electrical components, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), VSDs (Variable Speed Drives), relays, sensors, and switches, ensuring compatibility, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure that control panel designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety codes, and incorporate necessary safety features to minimize risks and hazards.
- Work closely with electrical and automation engineers to integrate control panel designs into larger systems, providing technical expertise and support throughout a project lifecycle.
- Assist with the management of the manufacturing process, collaborating with workshop personnel, ensuring the smooth assembly and integration of electrical components within the control panel.
- Provide hands-on support during the commissioning phase, troubleshooting and resolving any electrical issues that may arise.
- Assist with project estimations, quotations, and tenders.
- Create comprehensive documentation packages, including bill of materials (BOMs), and operation manuals, to facilitate manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes. Provide technical support and assistance to production teams and field technicians as needed.
- Conduct thorough design reviews and validation tests to ensure the accuracy, functionality, and reliability of control panel designs, addressing any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends related to control panel design and automation, and actively contribute to process improvements and innovation initiatives within the organisation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field is desirable.
- Proven experience in control panel design and layout, preferably in an industrial automation or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) and familiarity with electrical design standards and regulations.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, components, and wiring diagrams, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and schematics.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and interact with clients and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and accuracy, coupled with problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Commercially aware and financially literate.
