- Rectification / removal of all dents, dings, distortions, and high spots using appropriate tools (i.e., Hammers, leavers, files, spoons, flappers, and DA's).
- Dress & shape panels and joints using graded paper, files, and orbital sander.
- Remove E coat and primer runs using graded paper and block ensuring no damage to panels.
- Dressing areas after rectification is complete. Rubbing down of panels ensuring car is ready for paint application.
- Undertake finishing on parts and exterior panels working to AML standards, to remove all dents / distortions / high spots.
- Undertake rectification of incorrect panel fitment, both painted and unpainted, including use of measuring equipment for Gap & Profile Adjustment and Validation.
- Support detailed measurement of Body and Tubs using Metrology equipment and through interrogating part drawings.
- Interrogate measurement data to drive process improvements and trend setting.
- Ensure completion of all standard process work as per process sheets.
- Lead resolution of out-of-specification Gap and Profile issues through re-profiling; detailed measurement; component dimensional verification, as appropriate.
- Review build data - Gap and Profile and in-line measurements - to implement process improvements and trend-setting adjustments as necessary.
- Adhere to relevant FLM (Production Maintenance) checks.
- Undertake processed activities following relevant QPS, WES or SPS detail.
- Adhere to company safety, housekeeping, and discipline standards.
- Storage of controlled substances / components safely in correct location(s).
- Support quality, productivity, process improvements initiatives e.g., Kaizen, 6 Sigma and PPS initiatives.
- Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship (city & guilds level 3 + or equivalent) is essential.
- Previous experience of working within the automotive industry is essential.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of fundamental practical problem solving skills.
- Knowledge and experience of Body Dimensional Measurement tools and techniques inc GD&T is preferable.
- Must have high personal standards and a willingness to succeed and ensure a quality finish is applied to each car with an ability to recognise dents, distortions etc using sight, touch, and light movement.
- Ability to keep calm and focused as role can be high pressured to ensure quality is maintained.
- Can do attitude, determination to see the task through to completion at the right quality level.
- Team oriented with effective communication skills.
- Accountable, reliable and efficient and demonstrates initiative.
- Ability to read, interpret and work to engineering drawings /process sheets.
- This is a role that is tied to production and requires the incumbent to be on their feet for the entirety of the shift.
- Flexibility to work shift patterns, overtime, weekends to achieve production targets.
- Successful candidates will be required to support/work in other areas as may be necessary.
