The successful applicant will have lead responsibility for commissioning and editing health content for Good Housekeeping across platforms, as well as supporting the Features Director in planning, commissioning, and editing real life and newsy features to run across all platforms on GH (print, online, app, newsletter and live).ABOUT THE ROLE
  • To generate brilliant ideas for original, shareable and PR-worthy health & wellbeing features for Good Housekeeping that will work across all platforms.
  • To commission and edit internal and freelance contributors.
  • To research and write your own features, end to end.
  • To edit health & wellbeing content when delivered.
  • To be the brand expert on health stories and health trends, and an external spokesperson as necessary, to ensure GH coverage is timely, relevant and compelling for our intergenerational audience.
  • To mine the Hearst archives, UK and US titles, to source health & wellbeing stories that can be repurposed, updated and re-formatted to generate fresh content cost effectively.
  • To play a key role in planning, commissioning, and editing real life and newsy features that engage audiences across all platforms.
  • To work closely with stakeholders in commercial teams to generate, and deliver when required, sponsorable editorial concepts and franchises.
  • To mentor and train junior members of the team in commissioning, copywriting and idea generation.
  • To deputise for the Features Director in their absence.
  • To speak at Good Housekeeping events, as required.
ABOUT YOU
  • Someone with a proven interest in health & wellbeing who has a passion for the subject and a keen eye on fast-moving developments in this area.
  • A brilliant copywriter, with a features / health writing background, minimum 5-8 years' experience. Capable of writing a strong, well-organised feature.
  • Experience of writing and producing content that works across different platforms, including print, online (both essential) and newsletters (desirable). Some experience of video and audio would be ideal.
  • A person who has excellent editing skills and is capable of writing and editing under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Someone with a highly collaborative, can-do attitude who will work well with other departments and the wider team across the business.
  • A candidate who understands the creative opportunity offered by repurposing content from the Hearst archive to make it brand appropriate for Good Housekeeping.
