The role will be working across all functions of engineering delivery including, front end engineering design, estimating and project initiation, detailed design, construction support and technical guidance, interfacing with other disciplines and leading / implementing commissioning activities. This shall be carried out ensuring that all project deliverables are delivered in a safe, cost effective timely manner and in compliance with all relevant standards, directives, regulations and quality targets set out by the business.Reports toManager Engineering (hierarchically) / Engineering Project Manager (functionally)LocationWilson House, Birchwood Park, WarringtonResponsibilities and Duties:Represent the interests of BUK in all interactions with the client and maintain client relationshipsAble to work effectively in an engineering team, motivating and progressing Engineers and Designers within the businessCarry out all Engineering and Design activities within a multi discipline environmentMake independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within and across all Engineering disciplinesAble to carry out Engineering works using their own initiative, to the agreed milestones, budgets and quality targetsShould be able to identify Engineering scope change and effectively manage the process of change controlAble to supervise Engineers and Designers within their own discipline, or on specific projects for small Engineering teamsAct as the Lead EC&I Engineer on single or multi discipline projectsBe responsible for leading and driving quality in all Engineering designs and projects including, the checking and approval of discipline design deliverables to company proceduresComply with all BUK safety rules and CDM requirements for design work, including: design reviews, RAMS, safety studies and Client requirementsComply with all BUK company processes and proceduresBe able to effectively carry out, check and approve Engineering and Design estimates, control and report all costs on allocated projects in terms of progress, scope change and man hoursDiscipline Specific:Shall be able to supervise, check and approve the production of detailed EC&I specifications and scopes of work, EC&I design drawings, EC&I schedules and EC&I calculations which can include; cable routing drawings, schematic and single line diagrams, loop diagrams, general arrangement drawings, cable and load schedules, material take-offs, scope documents, software and hand cable calculations, inspection and test reports and commissioning plansLead the selection & specification of general LV electrical items e.g. distribution equipment, isolation & control equipment, light fittings, cables, protective devicesLead the selection & specification of general items of equipment e.g. converters, barriers, indicators, relays, junction boxes, panel, fixings, cable management etc.Lead the selection and Specification of Instrumentation Equipment for different types of flow, pressure, level, temperature and analytical instrumentation, including cables, Non I.S and I.S systemsShall be able to use and complete comprehensive checking of deliverables produced in the following software packages for EC&I engineering designs, AutoCAD 2D, AMTECH or similar Pro Design, Microsoft Office Packages, AutoCAD Electrical (preferred)Application of functional safety requirements to IEC61508 / 61511Shall be able to author and provide technical governance on URS and FDS documentation for AutomationShall have a good understanding of the different types of control systems and their applications to industryKnowledge / Qualifications in the current standards and codes of practice including ATEX, CDM, BS 7671 etcCarry out all Engineering and Design activities in accordance with BUK approved design guides & procedures, client requirements and British/European Standards / Codes of PracticePrepare specifications and requisitions for equipmentCarry out check and approve design, calculation and studies relevant to the engineering disciplineShall be able to Lead detailed site surveys of existing assets and project requirements, including the production of detailed survey reports and basis for design documentationProvide Engineering and technical support to the site installation team, including the completion of construction red line and as-built documentationShall be able to Lead and implement both cold and hot commissioning activitiesKey BehavioursLeading & DecidingWorking with PeoplePlanning & OrganisingApplying Expertise & TechnologyCoping with Pressure and SetbacksFollowing Instructions & ProceduresAnalysingDelivering Results and Meeting Customer ExpectationsExperience and Qualifications
  • HNC / HND in an EC&I Engineering Discipline
  • Bachelor’s BEng Degree in EC&I Engineering
  • Chartership Status CEng with an accredited organisation (Preferred)
  • 10+ years’ experience in EC&I Engineering and Design
  • Sound technical knowledge and expertise in all areas of EC&I engineering
  • Experienced in leading multi discipline Engineering projects
  • Application of all key relevant British and European standards and regulations
  • Experience within the main Process, Power and Energy industries (Desired)
