This is more than just a job; this is a legacy.We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Environmental Interface Engineer, offering involvement in engineering projects, to ensure engineers receive environmental assessment and guidance to implement Best Available Techniques (BAT) for RR SMR, and to incorporate Environment Design Principles and requirements into the design process.Purpose for the RoleRolls-Royce SMR Ltd. has adopted a requirements-led approach based on the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework and as the Environmental Interface Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the development of the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor (RR SMR) by:
  • Providing environmental assessment and advice to engineers to ensure the RR SMR applies Best Available Techniques (BAT).
  • Developing and maintaining Environment Design Principles and Requirements, ensuring they input into the design.
  • Proactively driving environmental requirements into design activities and provide advice and guidance in support of Engineering and others.
  • Producing technical documentation in support of the environmental chapters of the fully integrated Environment, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S) case and supporting interactions with external stakeholders.
About the RoleThe key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Support the development of environmental design requirements.
  • Technical review of engineering documents concerning Environmental Principles and Requirements.
  • Effectively participate in optioneering workshops, HAZOP workshops, and the design decision process for plants and systems to:
  • Support design justification and ensure that design proposals represent BAT.
  • Provide technical advice and support on environmental requirements and environment protection function(s).
  • Produce or oversee environmental assessments to support the production of environment chapters for the E3S case and GDA.

  • Degree in engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status with a professional engineering, or equivalent, body.
  • Ability to integrate well within a project team of cross-functional stakeholders.
Pay and BenefitsWe anticipate a paying salary of between £40,000 to £52,000, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
