As Lead Lifeguard Supervisor the successful candidate will be managing a team of Supervisors between Freshwater West to Pendine Sands and working closely with a team of over 40 Lifeguards to deliver a safe and effective service on the 8 beaches across our operational area.A sound knowledge of the beach environment and sea based recreational activities along with extensive experience in the provision of lifeguard services is required. As the Lead Lifeguard Supervisor, in this operationally focussed role it is essential that you are an excellent communicator, able to manage yourself and others effectively whilst managing delivery to budget and deadline. The ability to deal effectively with a broad range of people and situations is essential as well as a keenness to drive improvement and identify opportunities to best support the communities we serve.The Lead Lifeguard Supervisor role involves:
Leading the supervisors through the recruitment, training, supervision and administration of the lifeguard team and the delivery of the lifeguard service in line with RNLI standards and procedure
Actively managing and being responsible for the budget of the lifeguard service, with clear focus on the efficient use of people, equipment and money
Collaborating locally with partner agencies as well as nationally with others within the RNLI to support the effective delivery of the rescue service
Exploring opportunities within our communities for how we identify risks and create opportunities to save more lives.
A good understanding of the local area would be advantageous. In addition, you will need to maintain all fitness and proficiency criteria required by operational RNLI lifeguards. Previous supervisory and training experience is essential. A current, ILS recognised beach Lifeguard qualification is required.You will need to be IT literate, hold a valid driving licence, and have a flexible approach to working times that reflects the dynamic nature of the Lifeguard Service.This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced criminal records check.This post requires a valid driving licence.This post requires an ILS recognised lifesaving qualification.SafeguardingThe RNLI is committed to safeguarding; ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
