Short Breaks Support Worker (Project Worker 1) - Liverpool Short Breaks ServiceAbout Us: Barnardo's Liverpool Short Breaks Service is a newly commissioned service by Liverpool City Council, designed to provide essential short breaks for children and young people aged 8-18 with special educational needs and disabilities. Our service aims to support families by offering quality play and leisure activities while providing parents with much-needed respite. We are seeking passionate individuals to join our team and make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.Job Description: We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Support Worker's to join our team at Barnardo's Liverpool Short Breaks Service. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality activity sessions to children and young people, ensuring they have fun, engage in meaningful activities, and receive the support they need. This role involves evening and weekend work during term time, with shifts transitioning to daytime hours during school holidays.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead activity sessions for children and young people, maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Liaise with parents and manage group bookings.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities suitable for the age range and needs of participants.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork, including risk assessments, consent forms, and behaviour management plans, are completed and up-to-date.
  • Record outcomes for young people and maintain accurate records of session activities.
  • Participate in data collection for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Supervise bank staff as required.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring Ofsted requirements are met.
  • Drive vehicles for group transport when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging activities suitable for diverse age groups and abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and daytime shifts during school holidays.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive vehicles for group transport is advantageous.
